Eco-chic

With global warming upon us, and people urging us to live sustainably, why not use sustainable fiber when you knit?
The South West Trading Company specializes in eco-friendly, sustainable fibers.
These fibers aren't compromises at all! They come in a variety of gorgeous colors, and in some cases the dyes take much better to the natural fibers. The swatch pictured below is from the line of a-Maizing™ yarns in colourway 'little boy blue'. As the name suggests, the yarn is made from 100% corn fiber yarn.

They're no more expensive, enviromentally friendly and completely guilt free! Check out more eco-friendly fibers at the South West Trading Company website: http://www.soysilk.com

Knitting 101: Great Internet Resources via YouTube

It's time for another post in the knitting 101 series, continuing with some great resources.
Plenty of newcomers to knitting don't know where to start.
Well, I and many others have long been learning from our friend, the internet.
A few weeks ago KR featured a post on the blog TECHknitting, however, you may find it easier to watch and learn which is why there are two knitting channels that are must-watches.
The first is KnittingHelp.com the channel of the ever popular site KnittingHelp.com (Their videos are also available at the site).
The second is TheKnitWitch an avid knitter whom's videos are very helpful, and probably the best out there.
For more advanced videos KnitPick.com's channel has videos on speed knitting, colorwork, but also the basics like knitting and purling.

Hope this was helpful to some of you!
Happy Knitting,
C xx

Stitch 'n' Bitch Groups

From stitchnbitch.org:
"A "Stitch 'n Bitch" is just a group of knitters and crocheters who get together on a regular basis to stitch and, well, you know. All Stitch 'n Bitch meetings are open to the public and are free of charge."
These are an awesome way to meet up with local knitters, and to share tips and techniques. To check if there is a Stitch 'n' Bitch in your area click here.
